Cockroach Control Services in Brentwood, CA

Although you may not always see them, cockroaches are relatively common in the East Bay Area. When people come across cockroaches, they naturally assume the home is dirty and grimy. That’s not necessarily the case, but having cockroaches is definitely considered a social stigma in most communities.
Cockroaches tend to prefer indoor locations where there is plenty of food. They are commonly found in houses, apartment buildings, restaurants, warehouses, hospitals, and offices. Almost any structure in the Bay Area and Central Valley is prone to developing cockroaches under the proper conditions. Roaches will contaminate food and eating utensils and leave unpleasant stains and odors on just about every surface they touch.
In California, six species of cockroaches are considered nuisance pests:
- German Cockroach
- German Cockroach
- American Cockroach
- Smoky Brown Cockroach
- Turkestan Cockroach
- Brown Banded Cockroach
- Oriental Cockroach
German Cockroach
The most common household roach in the Bay Area is the German Cockroach. They are about ½ inch long, light brown in color, and are usually found in bathrooms, kitchens and anywhere food is prepared or stored. German Cockroaches are nocturnal and tend to stay hidden in dark secluded spots. If you see one during the day, it’s a safe bet a larger population is hiding just out of sight. Cockroaches eat the same foods as humans and pollute the food as they feed.
Oriental Cockroach
These roaches are common in sewers. They tend to come into houses through drains and prefer living in damp, secluded spaces such as basements and crawl spaces. The adults are usually over an inch long and dark brown to black in color. The Oriental cockroach has a bad odor and eats just about any type of human food or pet food.
American Cockroach
These large roaches are reddish-brown in color and grow to over 2” in length. They have an average lifespan of 600 days and tend to live in city sewer systems, basements, and commercial food preparation areas.
Brown-Banded Cockroach
With a body length of only 3/8ths to 1/2 inch, the Brown-Banded Cockroach is the smallest of the domestic roaches commonly found in California. It gets its name from the alternating pale brown and darker brown markings. Like other roaches, it is most active at night. They typically stay away from the kitchen except at night in search of food and water.
You can try to treat a cockroach infestation on your own with over-the-counter methods. Cockroaches have evolved over millions of years to be extremely hardy and you will find they can be very difficult to eradicate. If you see one cockroach, chances are there are hundreds more living in the walls and under the floors of your home. In most cases, it is best to call McCauley Agricultural & Pest Service to control the roaches for you.
Our treatment program follows three steps:
